May 14, 1923Referendum No. 3Proposal to reconfigure the City Council: cut the City into 6 wards, each ward electing 2 Aldermen and 3 elected at-large (15 aldermen total). Three-fifths majority needed for passage (not voting was counted as a No vote).
Referendum failed. Wards 3 & 10"Shall the Minneapolis Park Board purchase the McNair Farm, two-thirds of the cost to be paid by the Third and Tenth Wards?" The McNair Farm extended along Xerxes Avenue, through two and a half quarter sections, from 16th Avenue to Lowry. The Ewald brothers, who had operated their dairy farm there for years, moved off the McNair property in 1923.
